150 million kilometres away, 109 times as big as our Earth, 70 percent pure hydrogen – we’re talking about the sun. Solar energy can be used in the form of electricity, heat or chemical energy. Solar energy is one of the renewable energy sources that is most frequently used as a substitute for power generation from fossil fuels. RWE supports power producers, plant operators and other stakeholders in developing, constructing and operating photovoltaic plants. We focus on large-scale industrial projects and work towards further increasing the competitiveness of solar energy by reducing investment, operating and maintenance costs.
New energy – real solutions: with over one gigawatt of solar energy currently in operation or in development, RWE is well positioned to continue to use our experience as a provider and independent power producer to deliver top-quality solar energy projects. And we can say one thing with certainty – the solar market will grow exponentially in the next few years. With our subsidiary Belectric, we are able to act globally to develop and construct solar power plants and energy storage systems. In addition, we work with battery storage units and hybrid systems that combine different technology components to form autonomous systems.
It is our goal to build long-term partnerships, foster close relationships between landowners and customers and construct turnkey solar power plants – from the planning stage, through construction and right up to operations. Always with our finger on the pulse of the times.
